How to Plan a Memorable Baby-Shower
Baby-showers can be a ton of fun, particularly for expectant mothers. These showers are organized not only for the benefit of the future baby, but also for the mother to be, especially when you consider that she now does not have to shop herself for all the articles which she received as gifts. So if you are thinking of doing something to help a friend who is expecting, a baby-shower is a great option.
Before hosting a baby-shower, however, you need to do a lot of preparatory work. First, you must decide if you want this to be a surprise party for the future mom or if she should know ahead of time. Both options have their own particular benefits: On the one hand, if the mother knows ahead of time, then she can assist you with some of the preparations, like providing you with the names of people who she would like invited. On the other hand, by not telling her and having her be surprised, she will likely be very touched by knowing that you cared so much about her to organize this event for her. Be cautioned about surprise parties: too large a surprise reaction and you may end up inducing a premature labor.
LIST OF GUESTS:
Things sometimes get a little bit tricky when it comes to putting together the list of guests. You need to know who is likely to feel offended were they were left off the list and not invited. Good friends or close family members should never be left off the guest list, and should always at least be given the option to show up at some point during the shower.
GAMES:
Things are not always easy either when it comes to the games you plan, especially because the available options are so numerous. The games played during these showers can be loads of fun for those in attendance, and the prices that are given out are also welcomed by them. In order to guide you in making this decision, a few of the options from which you may choose are listed below:
a) Mom`s belly – In this game, the expectant mother stands in the middle of the living room and every one of the guests will take a guess as to the size of her pregnant belly, using only sheets of toilet paper or a string as measuring devices. The guest who happens to guess the closest wins.
b) Guessing the title of this nursery rhyme - Each guest is given a sheet containing a list of common nursery rhymes, and after hearing a short segment from one, they have to guess which one it is, or they may have to complete it. This helps everyone in attendance to think back and reminisce about all those bedtime stories from their childhood.
c) Taste this Baby Food – For this game, you must provide several jars each containing a different kind of baby food. The label must be removed from the jar and replaced by a simple number which identifies the type of food it is. The name of the food which corresponds to the number written on the outside of the jar is recorded on a piece of paper. Each of the guests tastes a sample of the food and must write down what they believe it is. The prize goes to the guest who has the most correct responses.
This guide should provide you with some assistance with the planning of the baby shower. Most importantly, do not forget the two most important rules: Enjoy yourself and remember to bring a present with you.
